My Honest opinion in my first month in an MLM

In late October I decided to join Arbonne, I'm just about 6 weeks in and wanted to share my honest opinion as someone who was hesitant to jump into an MLM.

We all know someone who works for an MLM, probably multiple people. Whether it be Arbonne, Scentsy, Pure Romance, Epicure, or so many others. The people who sign up to be consultants are just regular people, working 9-5 jobs or stay at home moms hoping to make some extra money on the side. Sometimes they flop- but sometimes they do amazing things! I personally know many men and women who have taken the leap into MLM and sky rocketed. I also know many who did it and decided it wasnt for them. There are lots of unique stories each person having thier own experience but I'm here to share mine.

What is an MLM?

An MLM is a multi-level marketing company, essentially there's a large company and people sign up to be independent consultants, selling the companies products for them. Independent consultants get their products at a discounted price and sell them to their own clients as SRP (suggested retail price) so its like any other business, clothing stores buy from large distributers and resell, supplement stores do the same, even grocery stores. As a consultant you want to create relationships and gain customers and also find other people who are interested in the business to sign them up which helps your own numbers to grow. As you grow you gain promotions and can get cash bonuses or even win trips.

The sigma around MLM

Alot of people think pyramid schemes when they think MLM but in many cases this is very untrue. Yes, you are part of a team Yes, you have people above and below you. This is true for any company. You have your CEOs, your management, sales people, support staff. There are always titles in business, so MLM is no different. Yes, your numbers grow as your team makes sales but if you're working in a sales job anywhere the bosses numbers grow as the sales team works. Its just a fact of life, sales people doing good improves the health of any upper managment.

How I wound up here

So, as I started this blog and my social media to build a health and wellness community, I wound up asking an old friend for advice as she has done very well for herself with her own blog and social media. She is an Area manager for Arbonne, meaning she has promoted multiple times for reaching her goals. She suggested that I look into it and I have to admit I was hesitant, I didn't want to become a statistic or stray from the path I was on with my own health and wellness vision. I had done MLM before, I was a Pure Romance Consultant like 10 years ago, I did pretty good there and worked with it for about a year until I decided it was no longer for me. This was also why I was hesitant, I didn't want to try and fail or try and quit. But, since I could justify it in the fact that even if I never promote or make any sales at least I could buy the things I wanted at a discount. As I looked into Arbonne I learned that they have extremely high standards. They promote health and wellness. They're a B certified company and are commited to clean living and waste reduction. I loved that. I thought it was worth a shot and adding a layer to monetize what I'm working toward couldn't hurt. I had used Arbonne before, I knew I really liked what I had tried, some products I had used many times because they were great. So worst case, I would get a bigger discount on things I like and used anyways and best case I do really great and this becomes a bigger part of my journey.

My experience so far

So as I mentioned I'm about 6 weeks in, I started posting videos of me using the products on my stories on Instagram and Facebook. People started to message me asking about the products and since I truly love these products it was easy to talk about them, which lead to new customers signing up with me. I was so excited to get my first few sales just days after signing up. I kept posting and bought more items for myself. I post about everything I try and everything I use. If I don't use it personally how can I sell it? I'm sure it's great but I'm not going to talk about products until I've tried them myself. I want to stay very honest and do everything I do completely authentically me. So as we transitioned into November I continued to post and throughout the month sales kept rolling in. I don't like to message people and bother them. Unless they have messaged me and asked questions. I just post and people reach out. Its been great so far! I wound up closing my month out last night at $2684 in sales for the month. I was shocked at my own progress so quickly in this company. This month I believe I can do $3500 which is my goal and will allow me to gain my first promotion. I also won a cash bonus for my sales this month. So, for the $65 investment to get started I've made back 10x within the first 6 weeks. I am progressing quickly and I am saving on the products that are helping me to live my best, healthiest life. I can't complain, a return of investment like that is great! I am so thankful that I decided to take this leap into something new. Not only have the sales been great but the community of like minded women who are working towards goals and living healthy lives I am now a part of is inspiring, they're all so supportive and kind. They cheer eachother on and empower each other every day!

Is it worth it?

In short- Absolutely! I cannot speak on behalf of all MLMs, but as for Arbonne, if you already use these products, or if you're curious about them, or if you're just generally intrigued look into it. I haven't found anything that I don't like since joining. I am watching my up-lines numbers move like crazy and they're mind blowing. There is unlimited potential and if you believe in yourself and the product they basically sell themselves. So whether it's Arbonne or another MLM- look into it, be sure that the company's vision aligns with yours and if it does then why the hell not? There are women making bank at these companies and improving their own lives, the lives of their families and the lives of their clients.

If you're interested in this business I am an open book. Feel free to email me to ask any questions you may have or check out my site.
