We've all heard that amazing things happen outside your comfort zone, but it's not always easy to step out of it. For some, it's
harder
than others.
Taking small steps to get comfortable outside your comfort zone helps to build courage and test the waters.

Everyone's comfort zone is different. It's natural to want to stay safe and hide out within your comfort zone; it's human instinct to keep us safe. However, you cannot grow as a person if you never expand and push your limits. If you're looking to upgrade your life, you're going to have to push through the discomfort and get comfy being uncomfy.
The good news is there are things you can do to help you get there, to get you out of your comfort zone in small steps, making it much less scary.
Tip #1 - Set a clear vision of what you're trying to achieve.
Knowing clearly what it is you want to achieve can help you to get an idea of what steps you need to take to get there. Knowing what it is you want and envisioning yourself when you get there will show you the destination and have you feeling motivated to make it happen! Having this vision can help you to know that taking the risks and stepping outside your comfort zone will all be worth it!
"The biggest risk you can take in life is not taking the risk."
Tip #2 - Start Small
Instead of taking a giant leap (I mean, this is pretty badass if you can push yourself to jump right into whatever it is that you're scared of doing), but for most of us, that's too intimidating. Taking small steps to action equals big results as long as you keep those small steps coming. Baby steps, baby! Small steps outside your comfort zone will help you warm up to what it is you're trying to reach. If you're scared of public speaking—like myself—start by voicing your opinion more in small group settings. I've recently started an Instagram page; I want to inspire others to live their best, most healthy lives. To do this, I need to be able to talk in front of a camera (which scares the shit out of me). The first few times I did it, I was literally shaking. I've been at it for close to two months now, and I can tell you that it's only becoming easier. Although I'm still super nervous, I am not shaking and having physical reactions to being on camera, working towards having the courage to do live streams!
Tip #3 - Learn to not take yourself so seriously.
Lean into the growing and learning process of it all. If you take yourself too seriously, every time you make a mistake, you will likely beat yourself up, which can scare you right back into the safety of your comfort zone. Knowing that you're only human and you're a work in progress allows you the room to make mistakes and learn from them. We're striving for progress, not perfection. It can be a tough lesson to learn. I am somewhat of a perfectionist and always want to get it right, but getting it wrong so many times has helped me to grow and to overcome fears and anxiety, and it's gotten me to a point where I am stepping out of my comfort zone on a daily basis.
Tip #4 - Spend time with people who are taking the risks
Staying stagnant in life can also depend on the people you surround yourself with. They say we become the average of the five people you spend the most time with. If you're not inspired by who you're spending your time with, change up your circle a bit. Start spending time with people who are doing things to get further in life and who are making moves! I'm not saying to cut out your family and friends, but just focus on broadening your circle with people who motivate and inspire you.
Tip #5 - Challenge yourself
Creating a challenge for yourself, set goals, and tasks daily. What is something you can do each day to break out of your comfort zone? Do something or multiple things every day to help you progress to what you are trying to achieve. No action is too small as long as it's getting you in the direction you want to go. Grab a calendar or a planner and plan your month out. Write down each day what you can do to get there. See what happens in those 30 days, how far can you get? What doors open for you once you start taking these steps? I bet after 30 days you're going to feel much better about breaking down those walls and stepping out of that comfort zone.
Beautiful things lie just beyond your comfort zone
Whatever it is you want for yourself, you're not going to get it by doing the same thing
and expecting different results. Envision the thing you're trying to create or the person you are trying to become. Growth happens when you step out of your comfort zone and start to expand your reality. For me this was being consistent and posting every day to my social media, recording videos, and also publishing blogs. I was super nervous to announce this blog and share my thoughts and feelings with friends, family, and strangers, but I've found my love of writing through it. I'm no great writer and I don't even know if people enjoy what I put out there; I hope they do, of course. But for me, I've really come to enjoy this process and have fun with it. I have a goal to create a brand for myself—helping people to find themselves and love living in their healthy era—and even if I can help just a small handful of people, it makes all the scariness and discomfort worth it. So take the steps, big or small, and watch your vision come to life.
Try challenging yourself for 30 days and let me know how it goes! I'd love to hear feedback, and don't forget to follow me on Instagram @myhealthymomera to get notified about new posts and to watch my journey.
